Abner MaresREGRETTABLE REACTION OF THE REPRESENTATIVE TO ABNER MARES

World Boxing Council President, Jose Sulaiman, showed his disappointment today when Frank Espinosa, representative to Mexican fighter Abner Mares, informed he does not accept that his fighter is the challenger of WBC Bantamweight world champion, Hozumi Hasegawa, of Japan.

Espinosa added that he will look for a title bout for Mares, but in another organization, as he thinks Mares is not ready to face a fighter of the quality and hierarchy of Hasegawa.

In the WBC, – our President added – we have felt sad when receiving this information which indicates that a Mexican fighter is being taken away the opportunity to fight for a title within our organization, which is recognized as the best one in professional boxing, and specially in this year of the Bicentennial and Centennial of our independence and revolution, respectively, when we would like to see important world title opportunities for Mexican boxers.

The WBC – continued Dr. Sulaiman – has always supported Mr. Frank Espinosa and regrets this reaction when everything was ready for the fight between Hasegawa and Abner Mares to be staged.
