WBC: BOXING SEASON 2009

WBC LogoBOXING SEASON 2009

The World Boxing Council instituted five years ago the concept named WBC BOXING SEASON, which is a points-gaining system in which WBC ranked fighters earn points every time they fight.

This system was developed by our dear Edmund Lipinski, who passed away last year and we wish to acknowledge his great contribution to boxing throughout the years.

Following you will find the chart which exemplifies how the points are earned:

“Canelo” Alvarez, from Mexico,

undisputed first place in the 2009

WBC BOXING SEASON

Once again, Mexican boxing shone in 2009, which has just ended, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, from Jalisco, Mexico seized the undisputed first place of the fifth edition of the WBC BOXING SEASON, with a total of 310 points, showing his fist power in the rings in his seven appearances as an unbeaten fighter and a total of 37 bouts in the Welterweight division.

Noknoi Sitthiprasert, from Thailand, was second, fighting in the Lightflyweight division with 235 points, and Jose Rodriguez, also Mexican, was third, fighting in the Flyweight division, with 228 points.

In its fifth year after being instituted under the leadership of its creator, the great Russian Commissioner who passed away last year, Edmund Lipinski, the World Boxing Council BOXING SEASON aims to keep a record, from January 1st to December 31st, that includes the results of a winner by division and a total winner.

This system consists of points that are earned by WBC ranked fighters, who obtain the points for every bout they take part in, as well as points for every win, knockout, quality of the opponent (ranked or undefeated), and if it is a title fight; at the end a general evaluation is carried out and that was the way it was closed in 2009.
