Interview with Boxer Melissa Mcmorrow

Melissa Mcmorrow

By Mario Cabrera, Jr

Welcome Melissa, to Boxingrepublic.com,

Mario Cabrera, Jr: Tell us about your team, Who is your manager, trainer and do you have a promoter?

    Melissa Mcmorrow

: I have a manger/trainer named Eddie Croft, a bay area contender in the 90’s. I train at B Street Boxing in San Mateo which is owned by Croft.

Mario Cabrera, Jr: What made you get into boxing?

Melissa Mcmorrow: I started sparring at King’s Gym in Oakland after playing soccer all my life. Boxing became more interesting than soccer, because the competition was gone from soccer after I stopped playing college ball.

Mario Cabrera, Jr: Have you sparred with any top or ranked contenders?

Melissa Mcmorrow: I sparred with Carina Moreno a couple of times. It was great experience because she is a great fighter.

Mario Cabrera, Jr: What weight class are you fighting at?..and where do you fight out of? Gym? City?

Melissa Mcmorrow: I fight at either strawweight or light flyweight 105-108 pounds. I train at B street boxing in San Mateo. I grew up in San Jose but now live in San Francisco. My family is from Brasil and I have pride in being a Brasilian and American citizen.

Mario Cabrera, Jr: Who was your favorite boxer growing up that you followed?

Melissa Mcmorrow: I did not grow up watching boxing but my favorite fighters are Dwight Braxton and Sugar Ray Leonard. I hope to someday be what you would get if you crossed these two fighters together (i know its a weird mix, but i think it would make an awesome fighter.)

Mario Cabrera, Jr: What can you tell us about your Dec. 4th fight and your expectations on it?

Melissa Mcmorrow: I am very excited about the December 4th fight at the HP Pavilion. This match is a rematch with Gloria Salas. I won the last time we met. I have been fine tuning a lot of my movement and am looking forward to coming to the fight with a much trickier game.

I wanna thank Melissa Mcmorrow and B Street Boxing for the interview!!!
