Unbeaten Middleweight Prospect Fernando Guerrero who is 16-0 (13 KOs) just won his first title against battle-tested veteran Ossie Duran on October 10th. Backed by more than 5,000 fans at the Arthur W. Purdue Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland the 22-year-old, who was born in the Dominican Republic but lived in Salisbury since he was a kid, won the NABO Interim Middleweight title earning a 10-round majority decision.

Mario Cabrera, Jr: Tell us about your Team, Who is your Manager, Trainer and Do you have a Promoter?

Fernando Guerrero: My manager,coach and father figure is Hal Chernoff and I’m co-trained by Barry Hunter. Im promoted by Prize Fight Boxing. (Prize Fight Boxing promoted Mike Tyson vs Lennox Lewis, the highest grossing pay per view in Heavyweight history and in 2007 named NABO Promoter of the Year).

Mario Cabrera, Jr: When did you start boxing & have you sparred with any top Middleweights or ranked contenders?

Fernando Guerrero: My first experience in boxing was humble. I simply followed my brothers (Alex and Carmello) to Main Street Gym at the age of 14. I turned Pro in December of 2007. I worked with Lamont and Anthony Peterson and Ty Barnnet. I am friends and have sparred with Paul Williams and William Joppy also.

Mario Cabrera, Jr: Do you have a favorite fighter and if so who was your favorite boxer growing up that you followed?

Fernando Guerrero: My favorite fighters that i watched and followed would be Oscar De La Hoya & Felix “Tito” Trinidad.

Mario Cabrera, Jr: Describe your fighting style…..

Fernando Guerrero: I would describe my fighting style as a combination of Oscar De La Hoya’s speed and ‘Tito’ Trinidad’s power as of fighting styles.

Mario Cabrera, Jr:a Who would you like to fight in the future?

Fernando Guerrero: I would like to face one day Kelly Pavlik or Arthur Abraham.

Mario Cabrera, Jr: What’s next for Fernando Guerrero?

Fernando Guerrero: I just want to fight all the time. I want to stay in the ring as much as i can. My dream is to become the best.
