DAVID DIAZ STARTS TWO WEEK CHICAGO MEDIA BLITZ
AHEAD OF JESUS CHAVEZ FIGHT ON SEPTEMBER 26TH
CHICAGO, IL (September 15, 2009) Former lightweight world champion David Diaz has embarked on a two week media blitz in his hometown of Chicago ahead of his showdown with two-time world champion Jesus Chavez set for Saturday, September 26th at the UIC Pavilion in downtown Chicago.
The ten round Diaz/Chavez bout headlines “WARRIORS COLLIDE/WINDY CITY FIGHT NIGHT 6” presented by Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions, HOME OF THE BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING since 1998.
Said Pesoli, “The media attention to this fight has really been unprecedented. Between TV, radio and the newspapers, they’ve truly treated David like another franchise here in Chicago . He hasn’t fought in Chicago in over two years, but the Chicago sports fans and media have a great memory of his valiant performance defending his title against Erik Morales in August of 2007.”
Diaz kicked off the two week media blitz with a special guest appearance at Chicago’s Mexican Independence Day Parade on Sunday afternoon. The huge crowds lining 26th Street in the Little Village neighborhood were estimated at over 150,000 by parade organizers.
Diaz was a member of the 1996 US Olympic Team and has been instrumental in assisting the 2016 Chicago Team in their attempt to win the bid as the host city.
