Local favorites won all their bouts including Ana Julaton pulling off an upset in the Marquee event of the night.

Ana Julaton (5-1-1) def. Kelsey Jeffries (41-10-1)

In the marquee fight of the night, Ana Julaton of Daly City, Calif., took on Kelsey Jeffries of Gilroy, Calif., and her 41 career wins, for the vacant IBA Super Bantamweight World’s Championship title.

Jeffries, making her seventh appearance at HP Pavilion, is the reigning GBU & IFBA Featherweight World Champion.

Julaton, with the crowd behind her, got in a solid roundhouse punch late in the second of the 10-round match and appears to be
owning the edge early.

Jeffries got in a few crosses of her own to close out the fourth round including one after the bell rang and Julaton had let down her guard that had the San Jose crowd roared in disproval.

Trading punches through much of their bout. With 10 seconds remaining in the final tilt of the night, Jeffries brought it on throwing and landing punch after punch to plead her case before the judges declare the winner.

After 10 full rounds, Julaton was named IBA Super Bantamweight World’s Championship.

Pulling off the upset, Julaton become the first female Filipino-American to capture the IBA World Championship and gave the Red Team their first-ever victory 4-3.
