Tim “Pit Bull” Coleman’s Interview

Tim "Pit Bull" Coleman
By Andres Cabrera & Mario Cabrera, Jr
Welcome Tim “Pit Bull” Coleman to Boxingrepublic.com
Andres Cabrera: You broke your hand in the 1st Round of your first meeting with Martinus Clay, explain how you went the distance and what punch did the damage?
Tim Coleman: I hurt the hand with a left hook to the top of the head. I was able to fight through the pain early with adrenaline but each jab and blocked punch hurt like hell. I’m a fighter and all I think about while in the ring is getting the victory. I was able to earn the draw even with a first round injury.
Andres Cabrera: I know you are from Baltimore, Maryland and you have fought 14 times in your home state; do you ever think about fighting on the west coast?
Tim Coleman: I love California because of its weather and I am looking for any fight that can get my toward the top contenders. If you know any promoters, drop my name to them. I get offered welterweight fights with only 2 week notice and I am not willing to take those risks. I am a natural 140lb fighter and want to stay in that weight class. I began amateur training in Las Vegas and have fought amateur fights in San Diego and San Francisco.
Andres Cabrera: You have been in camp with De La Hoya, Hatton, Mayweather, Paul Williams, Alfredo Angulo, Zab Judah and other top contenders; who poses the biggest problem to you?
Tim Coleman: The biggest problem would be Paul Williams because of his length and he is a left. Mayweather has superior skill and is constantly training so I am not downgrading his skills. Mayweather was retired but plays basketball an was still active in the gym.
Andres Cabrera: Do you plan on rematching with James De la Rosa who earned a UD over you on Shobox?
Tim Coleman: I would like to rematch James De la Rosa as every great fighter must fight the best around. I was at 147 after I ate that morning and I want to drop to my natural 140lbs. Most promoters are offering me 2 week notices to fight and I am not willing to accept those contracts. I will fight anyone in my weight class with proper training. I am looking ahead to fight Danny Garcia but feel I can get in the ring with Tim Bradley after watching his last fight.
