Trinidad vs Hopkins II??

Felix Trinidad

Former world champion Félix ‘Tito’ Trinidad and promoter Don King had a meeting in the Hotel Ritz Carlton of Isla Verde, Puerto Rico to try to set up a rematch between Trinidad and Bernard Hopkins. Trinidad, now 36, suffered his first defeat against Hopkins, now 44, in 2001. Sources assure that Don King and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer are near an agreement for a fight in November. Trinidad needs to train for about five or six months. 15 million is what Trinidad wants to fight Hopkins . Felix Trinidad Sr. said to El Nuevo Dia that he got around that amount vs. Roy Jones and that Titos rematch should be “around that amount.” “His value is around that amount. And a fight with Hopkins is much bigger than a Roy Jones Jr. because it’s a rematch and the public is waiting for it, especially Puerto Ricans,” Trinidad Sr. told el Nuevo dia. King had met with Trinidad but they did not talk about a specific dollar amount, but insists King knows that “Tito is worth a lot and his value is high….when we signed a contract with King to fight Mayorga (in 2004) Tito would get a minimum of 10 million. ” Tinidad’s last fight was vs. Roy Jones Jr. a fight that was a one sided 12 round affair. Jones was too quick on his feet that Trinidad could not land any big shots. Trinidad Sr. went on to say, “Im not here to kill any negotiations but being that this fight would generate lots of money, its justified that all parties benefit from it….If there is a fight that I want Tito to make, this would be it,” Trinidad Sr. said.
